About the Role
As the Director of Technology, you will lead a team of ambitious software developers and creative technologists to build next-generation digital solutions for our partners. You will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of client projects, driving innovation, and ensuring that our digital solutions are at the forefront of industry standards. Our ideal candidate brings a proven track record of implementing cutting-edge technologies, building, and leading technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, and delivering high-quality work that generates real business results. This role reports to the studio’s Managing Director.
What Your First Year Will Look Like
- 3 Months:
- Familiarize yourself with current projects, team members, and company strategies
- Begin leading technical direction and oversight for all active projects
- Conduct a comprehensive audit of the existing technology department, identifying areas for improvement accompanied by priorities
- Create and share a roadmap for hiring, performance improvements, culture building, and team development
- 6 Months:
- Lead the successful execution of at least one project that meets or exceeds the client-established goals
- Implement initial improvements to improve team dynamics, tools, and processes, resulting in a measurable increase in effectiveness and efficiency
- Begin to fill key full-time and part-time positions according to your hiring plan
- 1 Year:
- Achieve measurable success and improvements in the execution of client projects, showcasing the studio's commitment to creativity, innovation, performance, and impact
- Earn exceedingly high scores in the annual review from direct reports, cross-functional teammates, and the executive team for your leadership, collaboration, and ability to create value
- Spearhead the development of a long-term department strategy and roadmap, aligning with the studio's higher-order strategic vision and growth goals
What You’ll Do
- Build and lead a high-performing technology team, providing mentorship and guidance to foster professional growth
- Work with senior leadership and people operations to recruit, onboard, and retain top-tier technology talent
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including creative, design, and production, to integrate technology solutions seamlessly into projects
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle
- Act as a technology advisor to clients, providing insights and recommendations to enhance approaches, solutions, and outcomes
- Collaborate with the Growth team to articulate the technical aspects of our solutions to prospective clients as they move through the pipeline
- Stay on top of web-based industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decision-making
- Continuously improve processes, tools, and internal culture to enhance team efficiency and overall performance
- Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the technology team
